Roof Decking Complete

By Tuesday of this week the roof decking was completely installed and the roofers were busy completing installation of the roof.  After a glorious weekend and Monday, rain returned on Wednesday interrupting the roofers' progress temporarily.  With a little luck, the roofing will be complete and the building "dried-in" by the end of the week!  Windows are arriving and Merit will start installing them the week of April 30.

First Floor Framing

The character of the project changes rapidly at this stage, and it's fun to see the building take shape with walls being erected and outlines of rooms becoming evident.  Much of the first floor framing should be done by the end of the week of 4/9, and many of the roof beams will be in place!
3/30/12 - Initial days of Framing

Reclaimed Beams

Earlier this week during an afternoon interval between rain events, a small work party sanded the ridge beam in preparation for reuse on the east (high-side) wall of the Program Center.
4/2/12 - Reclaimed ridge beam sanded and ready for reuse
And this morning (Wednesday 4/4) Kevin Hornbeck and I picked up the beautiful resurfaced douglas fir roof beams that will cantilever out from the south wall over the outdoor climbing wall.  Kevin has taken on the task of organizing the re-milling of our salvaged lumber, and Resource Woodworks, Inc. in Tacoma which specializes in recycling and remilling salvaged timber did a great job.

4/4/12 - Kevin loads a re-milled timber at Resource
Woodworks to transport back to the Program Center for reuse
