Masonry Complete

The masons finished up with their work and vacated the site on Wednesday, March 28.  The south and east walls are at full height - these are the walls on which the outdoor (south) and indoor (east) climbing walls will be erected.

Taking Shape

So far this year La NiƱa has not produced the heavy, persistent rain that the skiers love but contractors curse, and we have frequently been blessed with better-than-expected weather.  So it was last week when most of the week was mainly dry, culminating in a sunny warmish Friday - perfect for pouring the slab!

Thanks Tully's!

Late last week and early this week the drizzle was consistent and cold.  Late in the morning one day the good folks at Tully's - our neighbor up the block, dropped by with a go-box of hot joe and donuts for the damp crew!  The masons and plumbers were impressed and surprised, but pleased to have a break for an internal warm-up.  Thanks for being a good neighbor, Tully's!

Going up!

The masons arrived Monday morning and started to erect the concrete block walls on the south and east sides of the building.  It's good to see the process of building commence after over a month of prep and salvage!

The plumbers also arrived and spent the day Monday digging trenches to receive the sub-floor plumbing lines, before stating to lay pipe on Tuesday.

Footings Ready to Go

Weather has again cooperated this week - excavation for footings has been completed and by March 2, concrete forms will be completed.  On March 6, Merit has scheduled to have concrete poured for the footings.  By the end of the week of March 5, the masons will arrive to begin laying concrete block - it will be good to see the Program Center start to go up!
